I.T. on Tap takes the responsibility for buying and maintaining computers completely off your hands. Instead we give you access to our computer systems: any time, from anywhere and you only pay for what you use.

We look after everything on your behalf - it's all we do, and we do it on a large scale. You know all that I.T. stuff that takes you away from running your business: buying hardware, buying software, hiring computer consultants, chasing up the consultants, and so on? You don't need to worry about it, or spend time on it, any longer.

All you need at your end is a web browser and a broadband Internet connection. We'll handle everything else.

Big Iron At The Back End

I.T. on Tap has racks of high-end computer gear in our data centre that our customers run their businesses on. Everything is designed to be as reliable and secure as possible:

• all the systems have built in redundancy - if one component fails we can keep operating without downtime and repair it on the fly

• we use multiple connections to the Internet - if one or two of our ISPs go down we are unaffected

• our data centre has huge battery backup units and diesel generators - in case of a major blackout we can keep operating for a week before they need refuelling.

• we're connected to the Internet through enterprise networking equipment, managed by skilled security specialists - your data is far safer than on a typical small business network

• our servers, storage and networking gear is much higher performance than typical small business computer equipment - the service handles large files and intensive tasks quickly & easily

I.T. on Tap engineering staff handle all the operational aspects: monitoring the systems, software patches, software upgrades and technical support.

Stick With The Same Software Programs

We provide a familiar Windows-based environment with a full range of Microsoft applications available, including:

• Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Internet Explorer
• Outlook
• Exchange email server
• Visio
• Project
• Publisher
• Access

In addition we already support many popular accounting (including MYOB & QuickBooks), contact management and CRM applications, along with many other Windows and Linux-based programs that are widely used by SMEs.

We also provide a rapidly-growing range of open source applications, included free with the base service. The current list includes:

If you use a software program that isn't listed above, we can install it on our servers using your existing licences. Simply contact us with details of the program you want to use and we'll take care of it from there.

Client/server and database applications are also supported - we use Windows and Linux managed servers. Our high performance server, networking and storage hardware provides an excellent operating platform for server-based software.

On Your Desk 

Macintoshes, Windows & Linux PCs are all compatible with I.T. on Tap. Existing desktop or notebook computers that can still run a web browser, even if they're old & slow, can be used to log into the I.T. on Tap service. Don't throw them out just yet!

Eventually some of your desktops will reach end-of-life/end-of-lease or fail and need to be replaced. Or you may hire additional staff and need more desktops as a result. When you do, then instead of buying PCs you may want to consider these units:

It's a graphical terminal - in I.T. terms it's no more complex than a toaster. It is:

• very small - about the size of a paperback book
• totally silent - it has no fan or moving parts
• completely virus-proof
• zero maintenance
• simple to use - the only control is an on/off switch
• easily replaceable if required - since no data is stored on it

Your terminal can sit on your desk, be tucked away out of sight or, as you can see in the picture above, be mounted on the back on your LCD monitor using a special plastic bracket. (Only on supported models of monitors).

The terminal has a keyboard, mouse and power supply which plug in - along with the network cable and monitor - exactly the same way as on a PC.

Your web browser connects via the Internet to servers in our datacentre - the software programs that you use run there and display on your PC or terminal with the same Windows look & feel that will be familiar to you.

The experience is just like using a regular PC, except that we take care of all the "housekeeping" in the background and keep things running smoothly. Your staff will be able to log on and work as usual, no retraining is needed.

By the way...you also won't need to lug your laptop around with you as often as you do now. If there is a PC available to use wherever you're going, then you can use it instead of taking your laptop. All your software and data are on the I.T. on Tap servers, not your laptop, so you just need access to a PC that can run a web browser. That ought to lighten the load!
