A Letter From The Founder

Dear Business Owner/Entrepreneur,

Welcome!

Can I tell you how I came to create I.T. on Tap, and why I think you're going to love it?

My Story

I started my first business nearly 10 years ago, with only about $10,000 in savings to kick it off.

I began to burn through my tiny bundle of cash quickly as I got set up: register a company, do some basic legals, register a domain name, business cards, phones, a few second hand desks and chairs for our sparse home office and so on.

By the time I got down the list to computers and software, I didn't have any money left! For the first few months we couldn't afford a PC each, so we had to share. We'd coordinate diaries so that someone was always out of the office, while the rest of us worked in shifts on the PCs.

It took months until we'd earned enough cash to:

  • buy a working computer for everyone
  • set up a simple network to share files
  • install a shared customer database and
  • publish a basic (if rather ugly) website.

Have you ever been there? Most of us have a similar start-up story.

I've launched several other businesses since then. While they've been better funded than the first one, each time I'm still surprised at how expensive and time-consuming the Information Technology (I.T.) setup is.

More than once I've thought, "there just has to be a better way".

And then an idea started to form...

Big Companies Have It Easy

In that first business I sold data storage systems to huge "top 100" listed companies. I spent many hours with their I.T. staff, figuring out how to solve problems with their computer infrastructure, which typically supported tens of thousands of staff.

That made for an interesting contrast to my own small business, which only reached 28 staff before I sold out of it.

My customers back then had very high-end I.T. systems, which were far better than the ones that small companies like mine could afford. Although their systems cost millions of dollars, they had so many staff that their cost per person was less than I was paying for my more basic systems.

In short, they had scale - and I didn't. As a result, I paid more than they did for I.T. (as a percentage of revenue). In fact, I paid more for systems with fewer capabilities that were less effective as business tools than the ones my large customers were using!

So my idea was very simple (in theory, if not in practice):

  • I'd build a big-company-style, high end I.T. system - but make it available for small businesses to use.
  • I'd take all the complex technical stuff off my client's hands - and have a team of propeller-hat techies manage it from behind the scenes.
  • Instead of charging my clients thousands of dollars for equipment up front, I'd take away all their risk by letting them pay by the month for usage.
  • And I wouldn't lock clients in with long term contracts - I'd let them leave at any time, if they were unhappy with the service or if we weren't doing our job.

That turned out to be easier said than done, but we got there in the end!

The Bottom Line

I designed this service for you, the entrepreneur starting a business or the owner of a Small/Medium Enterprise (SME) - and I think it's just perfect for you!

This is the very thing I wanted when I launched each of my previous companies: a fast, affordable, easy way to get all of your Information Technology (I.T.) needs met in one place - and without any need for capital investment.

Odds are that you probably didn't start your business in order to fix PCs, upgrade software, chase up consultants and so on. I have a hunch that I.T. stuff isn't really your favourite hobby - instead it's a business tool, a means to an end.

I also suspect that it currently takes up far too much of your time, and that you'll be open to a new approach - but only when you're certain that it will eliminate your current problems.

If you're still with me at this point, I would like to make you a few promises about the I.T. on Tap service. I think you'll agree that IF we can truly deliver the benefits listed below, then it's well worth your time to take a closer look.

My commitment to you: is that, when compared to buying and managing your own I.T. systems, the I.T. on Tap service:

  • is lower cost - unless you're "cutting corners" with pirated software, not protecting your data with offsite backups, not using up-to-date anti-virus software etc
  • is more reliable and more secure - because we use very high-end hardware with built-in redundancy, failover systems, teams of technical specialists to maintain it etc
  • requires less of your time - we take care of it all for you
  • enables higher staff productivity - with improved ease-of-use, free software tools for CRM and collaboration, plus support for working from home/other offices/while travelling etc
  • requires no capital investment - invest your cash in other parts of your business, where you can earn a better return
  • enables your business to grow easily - by instantly adding staff, supporting multiple offices and by eliminating capacity constraints such as memory or disk space
  • has no long-term contracts - pay by the month for what you use, leave at any time if you choose

I.T. on Tap is nothing less than a revolution in the way that SMEs purchase and use I.T. !

I don't expect you to take my word for it - register for a free trial login and try it out for yourself. I look forward to hearing what you think!

Warm regards,
